Access: From the A35, turn left to Holton Heath, heading for Swanage until Kimmeridge is signposted. There are three place to surf here; the bench, the ledges and the bay. Drive through Kimmeridge town slowly and head to the bay where there is a carpark.
For the ledges, paddle out along the east cliff, it’s a bit of a paddle especially when it’s going off but it’s worth it.
For the bench, from the car park it’s the furthest point on the west cliff. Head along the bottom of the cliff unless it’s Monday-Friday, 12/13 May, 6/7 October or 17/18 November in which case you have to paddle out because it is part of the MOD firing-range. If you are unsure call 08000 856628 to confirm whether the range is in use or not. There are signs explaining this on the beach. Using this sot is a privilege and if you break this rule it will be likely that this spot will become completely inaccessible which would be a great shame.
The Bay, is the bay shaped thing (duh?) and is by the car park.

Info: For all three spots you need a good south west groundswell with slight offshore winds (blows out very easily) for perfect conditions.
The bench is a shallow granite reef that produces great shaped fast and powerful A-frame waves, for experienced surfers only. Catch some great hollow tubes here.
The ledges is a slightly smaller wave, breaks over rock ledges hence the name so watch out for odd rocks sticking up. Provides long lefts and hollow and powerful rights. Does get quite crowded when it’s good.
The bay is a slower longboard wave suited more for beginners unless it’s huge, nice long rides to be had.
